After the election, we’ll be more energized than ever! We’re ready to help with the next big things on everyone’s schedules. For instance, the holiday season is right around the corner. We will gather with our families to celebrate. We will eat great food and the adults may have a few drinks. We’ll talk with family about the year. About football. About the weather. And, likely about politics. Those conversations may get a little uncomfortable.
Two workshops that may help are Skills for Bridging the Divide and Families and Politics. You can take these online. They, along with other e-courses, are located here. They take 40 minutes or less each, and will give you the tools you need to survive and thrive this holiday season.
We’re also working on a campaign to create American hope. The first part of that was turning out at the polls to show unity as Americans in the midst of political division. The next is to tell party leaders they need to reduce polarization. Read more here and sign the petition.
We’re also kicking off a nationalconversation on immigration over the next two years. This is the issue we identified as the most crucial to our national wellbeing at the national Braver Angels convention in Kenosha this past summer. (You can read a recap of that convention here.)To resolve it thoroughly and well, we need to discuss it with each other to see where we agree and to better understand where we do not. You can express interest in an immigration workshop here.
Locally, we’re increasing awareness of Braver Angels, building our membership and connecting people who are tired of the rancor. In 2025, we’ll be hosting workshops and debates in 2025; continuing our monthly small group conversations; and working with a fast-growing group of local organizations via Braver Networks. We intend to branch out into schools. On campuses. In faith organizations.
Individual members are getting certified as volunteer moderators, ambassadors, organizers and debate chairs so we can extend the reach of Braver Angels and deepen our connection with each other.
Want to get involved? Have other ideas for activities that help us bring Americans together to bridge the partisan divide and strengthen our democratic republic? Get in touch. We welcome volunteers in roles large and small. Whether you simply want to bring snacks to one of our monthly gatherings or you’re ready to certify to chair a debate attended by several hundred people, we value you.
